Dr. Doris Wood is a licensed professional counselor and a licensed
marriage and family therapist with a doctoral degree in counseling. Dr.
Wood practices from a cognitive-behavioural perspective, simply meaning
that the way an individual thinks determines how that person feels and
behaves. Additionally, she is certified as a practitioner of Eye Movement
Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).
She is in private practice at Alabama Counseling and Development.
Dr. Wood counsels with couples, individuals, families, and children.
She also works with groups and businesses. Areas of special interest
are parenting, self-esteem, marriage and family, change and transition,
conflict resolution, adult development and aging, assertiveness
training, sexual abuse, negotiation, and mediation.
She is a nationally recognized negotiator, a member of numerous
counseling associations, a member of counseling honorary societies and
an award-winning Toastmaster.
